Founder, CIVICA Health Inc.
Jun 2025 to present · Reno, Nevada
CIVICA Health builds software that streamlines clinical workflows for free and student-run clinics, working with Clínica Tepati, Knights Landing and other clinics in Sacramento. Its platform, CIVIC (Clinical Intelligence for Virtual and Integrated Care), is a productivity suite built around how small clinics run.
- CIVIC platform (PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Python): EMR, AI inventory, scheduling and more, behind one login.
- Deployed and maintained in clinics in the Sacramento area, with 200+ active users.
- Poster at the 2025 Society of Student-Run Free Clinics Annual Conference in Chicago (October 6, 2025; 470+ clinics represented).
- More than 50 potential clinic partnerships opened since the conference.
- Poster at the 2026 Society of Student-Run Free Clinics Annual Conference: "Privacy-Preserving Local AI for Clinic Platform", with Riyan Townsley and Brenden Tu, on running AI models inside the clinic so patient data never leaves the building.
Experience
Lead Developer, Atlas, UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center
Aboud Lab
Jul 2026 to present · Sacramento, California
Atlas is an AI research platform built for the Aboud Lab, a neuro-oncology lab at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Every day it reads new papers, clinical trials and funding announcements in the field and turns them into a knowledge graph of genes, drugs, diseases and treatments, where every connection is backed by the exact sentence it came from. The lab's own publications sit on the same map, so researchers can see what the field knows, what the lab has already done, and where questions are still open.
- Pulls new records daily from PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, NIH RePORTER and Grants.gov through their official interfaces.
- A knowledge graph of more than 45,000 claims. Each concept is matched to standard biomedical vocabularies (HGNC, ChEBI, MONDO), so different names for the same thing, such as GBM and glioblastoma, become one entry.
- Strict evidence rules: a claim is kept only if its quote appears word for word in the source, and no identifier is accepted from a model without checking it against the vocabulary.
- A "Has it been done?" search that checks a research idea against the graph and PubMed before the lab invests time in it.
- Evidence-cited review of the lab's draft grant applications, with every finding linked to the papers behind it.
- Built with Python, Flask, SQLite and Claude models, running on AWS.
Software Engineer, Clínica Tepati
Sep 2024 to present · Sacramento, California
Built the clinic's set of software tools, which streamline operations and connect each part of the clinic. The work began with an inventory problem.
- Used by 200+ clinicians and staff.
- Improved compliance and cut time spent on routine operations by an estimated 30 to 50%.
Clinical Volunteer, Clínica Tepati
Sep 2024 to present · Sacramento, California
1,000+ hours at a free clinic serving under-served communities: patient intake (vital signs, exams), Spanish to English translation, lab assistance, inventory management and physician shadowing.
Research Assistant, University of California, Davis
USDA/NSF AI Institute for Next Generation Food Systems (AIFS)
Mar 2024 to present · Davis, California
Developed SkillFlow, a framework for AI agent code evolution and skill retrieval. Designed orchestration and state-machine architectures for AI assistants, and assisted in the development of FoodAtlas, an AI-driven knowledge base on food, chemicals and health effects. Also contributed to an integrated omics study of US milk and to a model that forecasts drug approvals by disease.
Research Assistant, University of California, Davis
Siegel Lab, NSF Design2Data
Mar 2024 to present · Davis, California
Protein engineering of β-glucosidase B. Ran the end-to-end pipeline: computational Rosetta design, experimental mutagenesis, selection, purification and activity measurement.
Research Collaborator, University of California, Berkeley
Zohdi Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering
2025 to present · Berkeley, California
Worked with Professor Tarek Zohdi on whether the taste of a dish can be predicted from its ingredients, using mixing bounds from materials science. The work became the paper "Predicting food taste with bound-driven optimization".
Jr. Back-End Developer, PIPA LLC
Dec 2024 to present · Davis, California
Works with bioinformaticians and food scientists on an AI-driven formulation platform for CPG and food-manufacturing clients with nutritional and sensory product targets.
- Designed and implemented NLP, knowledge-base construction, ML training pipelines and agentic-AI architectures.
- Built prototype tools, including a software-testing prototype that a colleague later developed into something the team uses.
